GDC 2019: Oculus Reveals ‘Dead And Buried II’, Cross-Platform Play Between Quest & Rift S

The sequel to Oculus Touch launch title features new modes and a social hub.

This years Game Developers Conference has been a big one for Oculus as the company makes the announcement of their Oculus Rift S headset alongside a heap of information regarding long-awaited titles, such as Owlchemy Labs’ Vacation Simulator, Coatsink’s Stormland, and Sanzaru Games’ Asgard’s Wrath.

Along with these PC VR games–all of which will be available on the Rift S–Oculus provided several updates regarding the upcoming Quest lineup. During the event earlier this morning, the company revealed Dead and Buried II, a direct sequel to the popular Western-themed competitive shooter released on the Rift back in 2016. This newest iteration will include several new game modes alongside a brand new social hub. Most exciting of all is the capability of cross-platform play between the Quest and the recently announced Rift S.

Earlier this week, the company confirmed that Beat Saber would be available as a launch title when the headset officially releases at some point in the near future. 

During Facebook’s F8 conference this past April/May, Oculus used the original Dead and Buried experience as an example of the graphical capabilities of the Quest headset, showing side-by-side footage of the standalone gameplay next to its Oculus Rift counterpart.
