Pistol Whip Launches On PlayStation VR This Summer

The fast-paced rhythm shooter makes its way to console VR.

Cloudhead Games today announced that VR rhythm game Pistol Whip will be making its long-awaited debut on PSVR headsets this summer, offering console VR players the chance to battle their way through a variety of bullet-soaked gauntlets inspired by legendary action films like John Wick, Equilibrium, and The Matrix.

“With Pistol Whip on PlayStation VR, you’ll use the most of your space to shoot, dodge, dance, and pistol whip in a fully-immersive action spectacle,” states the company in an official release. “By default, Pistol Whip uses a single PlayStation Move controller to aim and shoot, with intuitive gestures to reload and melee. Dual wield can be enabled as one of many gameplay modifiers designed to challenge and encourage new styles as players chase friends and global leaderboards. Pistol Whip can even be used as a workout tool, focusing on quads and the lower body. “

Since its launch this past November, Cloudhead has continued to support Pistol Whip with a series of free monthly updates, adding new scenes, game modifiers, and weapons customizations to the experience. Unfortunately, it’s unclear at this time whether or not these additional levels and add-ons will be available at launch on PSVR. According to the developer more information will be provided in a future update.

Psitol Whip is currently available for $24.99 on SteamVR, Oculus Quest, and Oculus Rift. The most recent update, Dark Skies, takes place on a massive airship based off a level from Ninja Gaiden.
