Work with other players to serve up some delicious grub for hungry enchanted creatures.
Resolution Games, developer behind VR titles such as Acron: Attack of the Squirrels and Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs, is having one hell of a busy year. Just last month the company teased an upcoming competitive VR dueling experience and today Resolution has revealed yet another upcoming VR title, Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale.
Available later this year on Oculus Rift/Rift S and Quest Quest, Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale placesup to four VR chefs in a single fairy-tale kitchen where they are tasked with cooking up some incredible meals for a fairy-tale forest packed with famished creatures of all shape and sizes. Players will need to communicate and collaborate effectively in order to keep up with an increasingly chaotic environment as more patrons begin to surround your humble cooking cabin. Though the experience is designed for multiplayer cooperative play, Cook-Out does come with a solo mode which comes with a simulated partner.
“Kitchen games have always been something of a pressure cooker,” saidGustav Stenmark, the game’s producer, “but with Cook-Out, we’re really trying to turn up the heat. Not only will you be preparing meals, but you’ll need to fight off a number of nasty customers who seem absolutely set on making trouble — like jesters who will hide parts of your orders, or thieves who will keep pilfering your ingredients. We’ve designed Cook-Out to be played with a team — and believe me, you’re going to need all the help you can get in this kitchen!”
Resolution Games is no stranger to cooperative VR. Acron: Attack of the Squirrels remains one of our favorite VR party games, offering a unique asymmetrical VR experience perfect for families and friends looking to play together. Cook-Out appears to double-down on that concept, only this time the action takes place entirely in VR. Though the trailer is short, you can see how the title has taken inspiration from existing cooperative cooking games like Overcooked; here’s hoping this VR rendition ends up being just as popular.
Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale launches later this year on Oculus Rift/Rift S and Oculus Quest, with several other platform releases planned for a later date.
