Leading virtual reality expo announces first public demos of HTC Vive

With nearly 50 exhibitors spanning virtual reality hardware to VR game studios, the VRLA Spring Expo continues to build buzz leading into this weekend’s event at the Los Angeles JW Marriott LA Live, March 22, 2015. VRScout staff will be out and about all day covering the event and exhibitors.

The VRLA Spring Expo is the first of it’s kind in Los Angeles and will be showcasing the latest in immersive entertainment and virtual reality video games and cinema. Attendees can expect to get hands on demonstrations of Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard, Samsung GearVR, and Sony’s Project Morpheus.

The latest conversation coming out of VRLA today was the confirmation that the recently announced HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) will make it’s public debut at the Expo as well. The Vive is a collaboration between Valve and HTC which received spectacular reviews when it was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress earlier this month. WEVR (formerly Wemo Labs) will be giving hands on demos of their SteamVR creation TheBlue: Encounter paired with the HTC Vive HMD.

Adding to the list of public releases was the report last week when Reload Studios announced their first project to the world would be unveiled at VRLA Spring Expo. Reload Studios is set to unveil their project’s title and offer hands on demonstrations of their pre-alpha multiplayer build to expo attendees for a limited engagement on the floor. Reload Studios is an independent studio comprised of former Infinity Ward and Disney veterans currently developing content for emerging virtual reality headsets and existing game platforms. Last November, the studio released a video teasing what appeared to be a lighthearted, multiplayer shooter set in WW2.

Tickets for the VRLA Spring Expo can still be purchased here. Be sure to follow us to get all our latest updates from this weekend in Los Angeles.

UPDATE: We have uploaded a video recap of the event.
