Street Fighter Looks Even Better In VR

Hadouken!

The VR modding community has been on fire lately. Thanks to the hard work of talented developers like Praydog, Luke Ross, and Team Beef, we’ve been enjoying our fill of AAA games in VR, from GTA V and Jedi Knight 2: Outcast to Cyberpunk 2077 and Valheim just to name a few.

This week, VR modding community Flat2VR shared footage of a new VR mod for Street Fighter 6, available now on PC VR headsets. Brought to us by the aforementioned developer Praydog, this update allows you to spectate your virtual fights in-headset, adding an additional layer of immersion to Capcom’s 2023 competitive fighting game.

You won’t be fighting from the perspective of your in-game character. Rather, your headset serves as a virtual camera, allowing you to inspect the battlefield from multiple angles by simply moving your head. You’ll still need a compatible Bluetooth gamepad or mouse & keyboard in order to actually play.

That said, this looks like an awesome way to fully immerse yourselves in virtual street fights by cutting out all distractions. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not the mod takes off with the professional fighting community. VR technology could serve as an excellent training tool for competitive players looking to get the most out of their practice sessions, similar to that of racing sim fanatics.

Those interested in playing Street Fighter 6 in VR can get started here. It’s important to note that you will need to own a copy of the game on PC in order to play in VR.
