Sling TV Arrives On The Oculus Go

The over-the-top internet tv service brings multichannel video programming to VR.

For cord-cutters who prefer an à la carte TV model, but still find themselves craving a multichannel video programming experience, Sling TV, Dish Networks over-the-top internet television service, has become an extremely popular option.

Available on over 17 major platforms across a massive variety of smart-enabled devices, the flexible live service is now officially available in VR via the Oculus Go. Viewers can access their customized entertainment subscription and view hundreds of hours of live content on a captivating 180-inch screen similar to that of other VR streaming apps, such as YouTube, Netflix, and Hulu.

“No big screen, no room, no problem. Sling TV on Oculus Go gives customers an incredibly large screen, high-resolution experience anywhere they get a WiFi connection, without the need to connect to a phone or PC,” spoke Jimshade Chaudhari, vice president, product management, Sling TV, in an official release. “Oculus Go is a real game-changer in giving people a personal home theater experience wherever they are, with its crystal-clear optics and portable design.”

As an added bonus, those who purchase and activate an Oculus Go between today and January 15th, 2019, will receive $80 in credit (U.S. only) towards a Sling TV subscription (packages starting at $25 per month). Sling TV currently offers live broadcasting of over 150 major channels, including Disney, ESPN, NBC, AMC, SHOWTIME, STARZ, and Hallmark among many others. The service features “à la carte channels and services,” allowing users to customize their package for a personalized viewing experience featuring their preferred content.

Sling TV is available now for the Oculus Go via the Oculus Store.

As the Oculus Go continues to attract major content providers and developers, the all-in-one standalone headset has quickly begun to develop a perfect balance between quality and convenience.

With both the 32 GB and 64 GB models of the 3DoF standalone headset currently back down to their Black Friday/Cyber Monday prices of $180 and $230 respectively until December 23rd, now would be an excellent time to invest.

Pick up a pair over at Amazon US, Best Buy, Micro Center, NewEgg, Oculus, or Walmart, sign up for a few months of Sling TV for free, and binge-watch your way through that painful holiday commute back home.
