Jump into the shoes of an iconic Marvel hero in what may be the more important Rift experiences of next year.
I think we’ve all had the dream. You know the one I’m talking about. The dream where you’re running alongside the Hulk into battle, strapped to the teeth with superhuman abilities capable of saving the entire Universe. And while we’ve had our opportunities to taste the dream with various superhero video games, there has yet to be an experience that truly puts us in the shoes of our favorite vigilantes.
That’s probably why the Internet is going bonkers over the announcement of MARVEL Powers United VR, an upcoming VR experience that throws you and your friends into the action as some of Marvel’s greatest good guys. Announced over the weekend at Disney’s infamous D23 conference, MPUVR is a co-op multiplayer virtual reality title that allows up to three friends to unite (get it?) to fend of waves of villains using a variety of familiar powers from over a dozen heroes.
So far Marvel has revealed just three of the titles playable characters: The Hulk of the Avengers, Rocket Racoon of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel of the Avengers and the X-Men. As previously stated you’ll be able to harness all of these heroes kick-ass powers, from Captain Marvel’s photon beams and power of flight, to the Hulk’s “thunder clap” and Rocket’s scatter rifle.
The video provided shows a ton of high-intensity action as you fire beams of power from your own hands as Captain Marvel and crater the Earth with your mighty Hulk fists. Or if you’re playing as Rocket, shooting epic amounts of firepower from behind a furry snout.
Marvel Powers United VR is slated for a 2018 release on the Oculus Rift. But if you just can’t wait to Hulk-smash your way through hordes of foes, you can get a quick hands-on look at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con July 19 – 23.

Titles like this are what’s going to make or break this industry. MPUVR, Star Trek Bridge Crew, Fallout 4 VR, Resident Evil 4 VR, these are the corporate-backed, AAA experiences needed to attract mainstream audiences, as well as inspire confidence in the developing platform.
