Step into the blood-soaked shoes of your favorite Walking Dead characters today.
The Walking Dead Onslaught is now available on Oculus Rift, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR, offering fans of the long-running series the chance to experience the zombie apocalypse first-hand as their favorite Walking Dead characters.
Players can choose from the following options beginning today:
- Standard Edition ($29.99) – Includes the base game.
- Digital Deluxe Edition ($39.99) – Includes the base game, the Iconic Weapons Skins Pack (Lucille, Rick’s Mace, The Red Machete, and Tyreese’s Hammer), the Alexandria Crafting Starter Kit, and The Walking Dead Onslaught Digital Mini-Soundtrack and Art Book.
Those who purchase a copy though the PlayStation Store will also receive a unique PS4 Theme and Avatar pack.
Developed by Los Angeles-based VR studio Survios (Creed: Rise to Glory, Raw Data, Sprint Vector), Onslaught takes place shortly after the events of the Savior War, a devastating conflict between groups of human survivors which nearly lead to the total destruction of Alexandria, a peaceful survivor settlement which serves as home to the series’ main protagonists.
Onslaught’s primary campaign will have you stepping into the role of the charming anti-hero Daryl Dixon as he recounts “his fateful encounter with a mysterious stranger.” When you’re not slashing zombies as Dixon, you can hop between fan-favorite characters like Rick, Michonne, and Carol and you embark on dangerous scavenger missions outside of the walls of Alexandria.
When you’re not duking it out with hordes of walkers using the games gruesome physics-based melee system (fans of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners should feel right at home), you can upgrade and modify 24 weapons borrowed directly from the show, discover new survivors, and collect valuable resources which can be used to rebuild a crippled Alexandria.
The Walking Dead Onslaught is available now via the PlayStation Store, Oculus, and SteamVR beginning at $29.99. In addition to today’s digital release, Prep Games will be conducting a physical PSVR launch in mid-October.
