While we’re still over a year away from the Steven Spielberg directed adaptation of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One, production is already underway in London.
With a March 2018 release date, Ready Player One will star Simon Pegg, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, and Tye Sheridan who’ll be playing the lead character Wade Watts, an American high school student who lives most of his life inside the virtual reality simulation called the OASIS.
With many fans enthusiastic to see how the virtual worlds of the OASIS will be brought to life on the big screen, many of you readers have been equally excited to glimpse the VR hardware and headsets in the film as well.
We imagine the film adaptation will show everything from VR ready OASIS cafes to more personal devices that you take around with you in the real world.
Now thanks to photos shared on Twitter from some folks working on set, we’re getting our first glimpse at an OASIS ad, posters for IOI Haptic’s VR headset and some pretty dystopian looking sets in London.

Steven Spielberg signed on to direct in March 2015 with Warner Bros. initially announcing a release date of December 15, 2017. However, the release date was pushed back to March 30, 2018, to avoid competition with Star Wars: Episode VIII. The movie has begun production and will be filmed in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
