Professional Baseball Coaches Are Now Available In VR

Baseball and softball athletes receive individualized 1:1 training from instructors in real time.

VR sports training is on the rise thanks to companies like WIN Reality, which last year launched WIN Reality Baseball on Meta Quest 2 headsets. The virtual training platform lets young athletes practice their swing with 7 game modes and over 30 training workouts using the Touch controllers or their own bat. They can even go head-to-head against over 600 pitchers.

Earlier this month, WIN Reality launched WIN Elite, a premium subscription service for the WIN Reality Baseball app that unlocks real-time 1:1 coaching led by a roster of professional instructors specializing in young baseball and softball players. Subscribers receive individualized assistance in the form of fundamental drills, hitting scenarios, and custom development plans.

“There’s no substitute for a coach, but not everyone has the time and resources for in-person, 1:1 instruction on top of the rigors of school, practice, and games,” said Ben Schragger, director of customer experience at WIN Reality, in an official release. “With WIN Elite, young players can unlock the benefits of a private hitting coach, including custom development plans, from the comfort of their own home.”

“We launched WIN Reality because we knew that a VR environment can help more players hone their performance,” added Chris O’Dowd, founder and CEO of WIN Reality and a former pro baseball player. “But that’s no substitute for the value of a personal coach guiding a player’s growth in the game. By bringing together the best of technology with the power of individual attention and instruction, we know that our young players can make the most of their growth in the sport.”

In addition to the features included with WIN Reality Baseball, WIN Elite athletes enjoy other exclusive amenities, such as on-demand texting with coaches, live events featuring Q&As with college athletes, college recruiting tips, interactive livestreams, and more.

“Being able to throw the headset on, take swings, and receive instantaneous feedback about how you’re performing, you can’t rival that”, said Chris Love, the parent of WIN Elite athlete. “The ability for Winter, my son, to train virtually with his WIN Elite coach, who played high-level baseball, is as good or better than any in-person coach Winter has had up until this point.”

WIN Reality Baseball is available now on Meta Quest 2 as a free download. That said, you will need to pay a minimum subscription fee of $29 per month in order to unlock additional content. WIN Elite is available as an additional three-month subscription for $299. If you move fast, however, you can pick up a 3-month subscription for just $99 as part of the company’s launch special.
