Manus’ plug-and-play solution promises “the most sensors in any SteamVR tracker available.”
Manus VR, best known for its line of haptic VR gloves, today revealed the Manus Pro Tracker, a new tracking solution for the SteamVR platform aimed specifically at professional creators working in motion capture, virtual production, and VR.
Available for pre-order now via manus-vr.com, Manus’ plug-and-play solution promises “the most sensors in any SteamVR tracker available,” offering more accurate SteamVR data capture for those seeking professional-grade results. In addition to improved tracking quality, the Manus Pro Tracker features a light-weight design coming in at just 68 grams; that’s 44% lighter than competing trackers according to Manus. The standard Vive Tracker, for instance, weighs approximately 89 grams.
Despite its compact design, however, the Manus Pro Tracker still manages to squeeze in a healthy amount of features, including an interchangeable battery system allowing for 4½ hours of real-world battery life per charge. Batteries need just over an hour to recharge and can even be used as a wired solution using any standard USB-C cable. The ability to quickly swap out batteries and resume production within seconds could be an enticing feature for developers looking to make the most of their studio time.
Thanks to the integrated universal mounting adapter, the professional-grade tracking solution can be used in tandem with Manus’ Prime II Series Motion Capture & Virtual Reality gloves as well as the companies full-body inverse-kinematics suit, Polygon. Outside of the Manus ecosystem, the Pro Tracker can be paired with an Xsens motion capture suit to provide additional 3D positional aid or used as a full-body tracking solution for the SteamVR platform.
“After years of using SteamVR Tracking, we are excited to launch our own SteamVR enabled product,” said Manus CEO Bart Loosman in an official release. “We have been amazed by the accuracy and ease-of-use of this tracking solution for a long time. As one of the very first companies in the world to get access to the SteamVR technology, we hope to improve the workflow of creative professionals around the world with our very own professional tracker.”
The Manus Pro Tracker will cost € 299 ($359.98) and is available now for pre-order. For more information visit manus-vr.com/steamvr-tracker.
