Vive is turning one today — marking a year since those giant black and teal boxes began showing up at doors across the globe. And to celebrate HTC Vive’s first birthday, HTC has launched their first, and likely industry first, VR app subscription service.
Viveport Subscription comes at a time when VR app libraries continue to grow, making it more challenging to decide on what you should or should not purchase. For $6.99 a month, Viveport subscribers can pick five games or apps from over 50 titles, giving you unlimited access to the apps for as long as you’d like. You can always rotate out your selection every month, providing a fresh selection of new content to dive into on the regular.
We wouldn’t quite call it the “Netflix for VR,” but Viveport Subscription can be an optimal deal for some considering VR games and apps can cost anywhere from $10, $20, or even $50. For today’s April 5th launch, HTC Vive is incentivizing signups with a one month free trial offer for new users, which you can sign up here.
Continuing the birthday celebration, HTC Vive is also giving away a free copy Vive Studios’ VR action game Arcade Saga and is offering new customers $100 off Vive headsets.
