A Front Row Seat at Rebecca Minkoff’s Runway Show in Virtual Reality

Rebecca Minkoff Virtual Reality Runway

In case you missed the Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2015 New York Fashion Week runway show earlier this year, the company is now giving you a sample of the catwalk in virtual reality.

Rebecca Minkoff’s fashion show, inspired by the artistic spirit of Patti Smith and her poem Prayer for New York, collaborated with Jaunt to bring the runway show to fans from the point-of-view of sitting in the front row.

The runway show was shot with two of Jaunt’s cameras, adding Rebecca Minkoff to the growing list of fashion brands who are testing the water with virtual reality like Elle Canada’s cover shoot, Dior’s headset, and 7 For All Mankind’s VR fashion story (also created with Jaunt).

The company is no stranger to technology brand integration, having collaborated with Google on watchfaces for Android Wear, they can now add being one of the first runway shows shot in virtual reality to their list.

Rebecca Minkoff has also a gone a step further and partnered with Dodo Case to create custom Google Cardboard headsets that fans can buy if they already don’t own one to enjoy the experience. The site currently has them listed at $24.99 and is showing them as “out of stock”.

You can watch the Fall 2015 runway show by downloading the free Jaunt VR app on iOS or standalone app on Android.
