You will work in small teams to solve a dark mystery in this limited-time VR attraction.
With Halloween just a couple months away, we can definitely expect virtual reality to play a greater role in this year’s spooky holiday attractions and theme parks. And for Universal Orlando Resort, VR seems to be top of mind for the creative team designing attractions this year.
The same resort that just began testing a Hulk VR experience ride last month, Universal Orlando Resort will be offering Halloween Horror Nights fans a new immersive horror experience all October that is sure to terrify visitors.
Universal partnered up with Bellevue, Washington-based VRStudios to create the multiplayer VR experience, dubbed The Repository. The exclusive attraction will blend VRStudio’s wireless VR headsets with real-life characters and environments to create a “whole new generation of psychological horror.”
Throughout the psychological journey, you will be working together in teams of four to uncover a paranormal mystery. The Repository experience is set in a centuries old warehouse where paranormal and supernatural artifacts have been collected and stored for hundreds of years. Recently though, the secretive organization behind this practice has installed state-of-the-art technology that allows spectral transportation into paranormal realms. This is where the VR headsets come into play, transporting you across the SDP (spectral dark portal) directly into terrifying environments.
Tickets for The Repository go on sale August 23 for the general public and can be purchased as an upgrade from your Halloween Horror Nights admission for $49.99 plus tax, per person.
The experience begins September 29 and runs through October 31.
