The first episode takes you high inside the Goodyear Blimp.
On board one of the last flights of Goodyear’s GZ-20 model blimp or hang gliding in Hawaii, you can now experience season two of USA Today’s “VRtually There” series.
Launched bak in October 2016, “VRtually There” is USA Today’s ongoing commitment to publish immersive stories using VR. The second season, announced Tuesday, is what USA Today calls the continuation of the “industry’s first branded news experience presented in VR.”
For Tuesday’s premiere, three new VR segments made their debut, including hang gliding in Hawaii, a last ride of the beloved Goodyear Blimp that’s retiring after almost 50 years, and an up-close encounter with giant elephant seals in Ano Nuevo State Park, CA with UC Santa Cruz researchers. New segments of “VRtually There” will roll out each Tuesday, where we can expect future episodes to range from wild adventure, extreme nature and sport fantasies to iconic America and behind the scenes with VIP access.
“With over ten million views of ‘VRtually There,’ we are bringing together amazing advances in VR technology and an even higher ambition to tell the most gripping stories and bring new experiences to our audience in VR,” said David Hamlin, Executive Producer of “VRtually There.” “We are focused on five content areas that we know our audience enjoyed based on prior performance, and are even more unique and thrilling for viewers.”
