A new CGI trailer teases action-packed stealth combat.
It was back in 2020 that Meta first revealed an official Assassin’s Creed VR game was in development for Meta Quest headsets. Roughly three years later and we have finally received new information on the highly-anticipated experience, including an action-packed announcement trailer.
During today’s Ubisoft Forward Showcase, the publisher revealed a slew of exciting titles coming to consoles, PC, and mobile devices. And not only that, but the company also revealed Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, an original single-player VR game based on the popular stealth game franchise.
According to Ubisoft, you’ll have the chance to step into the boots of three famous Assassins from throughout the series. This includes Ezio Auditore da Firenze (Assassin’s Creed II, II: Discovery, Brotherhood, and Revelations), Kassandra (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey), and Connor (Assassin’s Creed III).
“Become the Assassin in Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR. Embody legendary Assassins Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Kassandra, and Connor in an all-new Assassin’s Creed story built exclusively for VR,” states the official Meta Quest page. “Parkour and climb freely across open maps in Renaissance Italy, Colonial America, and Ancient Greece as you decide how to achieve your objectives.”
Based on the trailer we can expect plenty of action-packed first-person combat featuring a number of instantly-recognizable weaponry, from Ezio’s hidden blades to Connor’s tomahawk. You’ll use your motion controllers to block, parry, and attack as well as parkour through the streets of various open-world environments, including Venice, Athens, and Colonial Boston. You can even throw objects to distract enemies.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR arrives on Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro headsets in Holiday 2023. Those interested can wishlist on Meta Quest now.
