Experience one of the scariest VR games currently available 100% free-of-charge courtesy of the Epic Games Store.

Despite having released back in 2014, Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation remains one of the most unsettling survival horror games currently available..

Set 15 years after the events of the original film, Alien: Isolation has you stepping into the role of Amanda Ripley as she embarks on a mission to discover the whereabouts of her missing mother. Of course–this being an Alien game and all—not everything goes according to plan and the young protagonist soon finds herself trapped aboard a derelict space station haunted by a lone Xenomorph.

As if the pitch-black hallways of the Sevastopol space station and near-invisible alien creature weren’t terrifying enough, the aptly-named MotherVR mod lets you play through the entirety of the campaign in VR, offering a new level of immersion to an already captivating experience.

For those who may have missed this survival horror gem, Epic Games is offering the game for free for a limited time via its Epic Games Store. You’ll have to sign up for an account if you haven’t already, but the process won’t cost you a dime. Epic is also offering the game’s Last Survivor DLC 100% free-of-charge. If you already downloaded the base game and don’t see the DLC, try downloading the base game again; Epic should automatically update your account with the DLC content.

While the stealth mechanics and enemy AI have definitely begun to show their age, Alien: Isolation remains one of the most satisfying—not to mention visually stunning —survival horror games available on consoles, PC, and VR headsets.

Alien: Isolation is available free now through April 29th via the Epic Games Store. To play in VR, simply download the latest version of the MotherVR mod and drop it in your game folder.
