Here’s Six More ARKit Projects to Get Excited About

Apple’s ARKit has taken the internet by storm. Here are six more projects we think will blow you away.

Since its launch just over a month ago, amateur and professional developers alike have used Apple ARKit to create experiences ranging from practical (AR measuring tape, anyone?) to out of this world (this interdimensional portal is still blowing our minds)—and there seems to be no end in sight. We’ve already covered some of the hottest, most innovative, and flat-out craziest stuff being made with ARKit so far; but with so many amazing experiences being produced by the day, it’s worth taking a look at a few more. Here’s the latest and greatest from we’ve spotted from @madewithARKit and beyond.

Watch a SpaceX Rocket Land in Your Backyard

You’ve probably seen a rocket launch before, but you’ve never seen one like this. Just look through your iPhone, sit back, and relax as a Space X Falcon 9 appears in the atmosphere and lands on a dock in your swimming pool. Personal rocket landings by the water? Not a bad way to spend a hot summer Saturday.

Tetris: 2017 Edition

The world-famous classic puzzle game we all know and love just received a pretty sweet update. Created by @Exyte and cleverly titled, ARTetris, this experience projects a game of Tetris into the user’s environment and actually allows them to play the game.

Command a Naval Fleet at Work

This demo by @ImmersionVR transforms a boring day at the office into an epic naval battle worthy of history books. Complete with rolling ocean waves, multiple ships, cannons, and explosions, this experience is sure to be a hit with your coworkers…but may get you into a little trouble with your boss…

Basketball in AR

If your timeline during the NBA finals was any indication, people LOVE basketball, which is why people are so excited about this extremely realistic AR pickup basketball game created by 应高选. It looks so lifelike that twitter users were confused about what was and what wasn’t real, prompting @MadewithARKit to respond with this gif:

…effectively blowing everyone’s minds.

ARKit Eats

Instagram foodies are going to have to step up their game to compete with this. By Alper Guler, this creation shows how ARKit could potentially be a game-changer in the restaurant industry. No more guessing about that lamb salad—with this app, you can see the prepared dish right in front of you in AR.

Watch (and Listen to!) the Moon Landing in Your Kitchen

This may be the prolific Tomas Garcia’s best demo yet. A dream come true for space nerds and history buffs, this one shows the moon landing in AR—right inside of your kitchen. The original moon landing audio plays in the background as the spacecraft approaches landing, and you can’t help but cheer as the team touches down on the moon’s cratered surface. One small step for man, one giant leap for augmented reality.
