The On The Lot mobile app will live stream keynotes and panels with the Nokia OZO.
A two-day VR industry insiders summit is happening October 13 & 14 at the Paramount Pictures lot in Hollywood. It’ll be a prime opportunity for serious VR creators to mingle with producers, production companies and other content creators, as well as check out the latest gear and cinematic offerings.
The event comes from VR Society and is titled ‘VR on the Lot. It’s being touted as the first of its kind and, given how new the medium is, that’s likely accurate.
“This gathering of VR professional is unique in the short history of this new medium,” Jim Chabin, President & CEO of Advanced Imaging Society, said via a release. “We are bringing together experienced production pros with technology leaders to help VR become a sustainable creative business. Many of our VR colleagues have news to share so it will be a very informative gathering.”
On both days, there will be a 13,000 square foot exhibition space with demos and other interactive activities, alongside a full day of panels that follow one of two tracks. Track 1 explores the state of the VR industry (this track is already sold out), while Track 2 is geared towards VR content creators, storytellers and producers. Tickets are pricy, hovering around $500 per day, so this is definitely an event for serious VR creators and investors, not just enthusiasts. Student tickets, however, are available at a discounted rate.
Attendees include directors Robert Stromberg (the Martian VR Experience), Bryan Singer (X-Men), James Foley (House of Cards, Fifty Shades Darker), writers Dan Harris (X-Men 2), Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World), FX producer Dane Smith (Dead Pool, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows) and exec producer Victoria Alonso (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2). Studios include the likes of Warner Bros, Disney, DreamWork Animation and 20th Century Fox.
Can’t make it out to Hollywood this week? You can still watch VR On The Lot live in 360° VR by downloading the ON THE LOT mobile app from for iOS or Android. Wemersive teamed up with Radiant Images and Nokia to live stream from the OZO camera.
