Last week we announced NextVR’s live coverage of the International Champions Cup (ICC) on Gear VR.
Well, today is your last chance to get down on the field at Metlife Stadium as Real Madrid takes on Bayern Munich after handing down a beating to Chelsea during Saturday’s broadcast. The best part? You don’t have to go to New Jersey.
How to Watch
The match is completely free via the ICC channel on NextVR, which you can only access on the Samsung Gear VR. If you do have a Gear VR, here’s how to get there:
- Dock your phone in the Gear VR
- Open Oculus Home
- Download and open the NextVR app
- Watch the matches on the ICC channel
I watched Saturday’s game from my living room. I’m not a huge Soccer fan. I don’t even watch sports on TV very often. But I love watching sports live so I was interested to see how well this would keep my attention. It was really immersive and entertaining. There was a moment after a diving save where the ball deflected off the keeper’s hands and rolled to my viewing position next to the goal
If you haven’t caught any of the matches yet, you can also check out a few highlights from the previous games. If you like to cut the fluff and get straight to the good stuff, now you can do it from the field on NextVR.
How they do it
NextVR places high tech camera rigs throughout the stadium – in the stands, along the sidelines, and next to the goal. The cameras capture a 180-degree view of the match from each vantage point in HD 3D. So no matter where the action is, you have the best seat in the house and the ability to look around as you would if you were standing there.
“This is what we do. We put fans on the sidelines, next to the world’s most talented athletes and allow them to feel as if they are there,” says Brad Allen, Executive Chairman of NextVR. “We are thrilled to be working with Relevent Sports and ICC to bring this experience to the fan base of the world’s most popular sport.”
Whether you’re a soccer fan or you just want to see the future of sports broadcasting, make sure to watch today’s game along with a number of other live broadcasts on NextVR.
