Master the art of mixing music anywhere at any time.
Available now on Oculus Quest, Tribe XR DJ School is an interactive DJ simulation experience that teaches you the skills required to mix music on a professional level. Originally released on SteamVR back in March, the standalone experience offers the same all-in-one DJ training package for both experienced and budding disk jockeys.
Users are given access to industry-level CDJ’s and mixer equipment, allowing them to upload their personal music collection and practice their sets in a realistic club-like environment. For those DJ’s still in-training, Tribe XR has partnered with a handful of DJ and music production schools—including Point Blank Music School, Pyramid, and TAFE NSW—to offer live classes, tutorials, and one-on-one lessons.
For the most effective learning, however, users will want to look into the company’s DJ Bootcamps. These 2-4 week programs break down all the skills essential to become a proficient DJ. This includes beat-matching, effects, counting beats, mixing techniques, bars and beats, mixing in key, song selection, loops, transitions, and more. Upon graduation of the boot camp, students will live stream their set to Tribe’s global community via Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Live, and VRChat.
Once you’ve mastered the skills necessary to perform a killer set, you can then conduct your own performances for live audiences. You can even team-up with fellow VR DJs and perform back-to-back sets in real-time within the same space, regardless of which headset they’re operating.
“Since we started to build Tribe, we have seen thousands of people training in Tribe XR DJ school, with many of those realizing their dreams of becoming performing DJs and performing in real clubs for real money,” said Tom Impallomeni, Tribe XR co-founder and CEO, in an official release.
“With Tribe coming to Oculus Quest, aspiring DJs can now practice on virtual equipment, anywhere and at any time, and keep learning and performing on the go. We’ve been working tirelessly to bring Tribe to Oculus Quest and we are excited for the Quest’s community and music fans to finally give it a try.”
Tribe XR is available on Oculus Quest now for a one-time fee of $19.99. Those who have already purchased the experience on Oculus Rift/Rift S can access the experience for free thanks to Oculus cross-buy.
