The Vive Is Finally Complete With This Deluxe Audio Strap

The VR headset just got even better.

We’ve all experienced it at some point while in VR. The fidgeting of the velcro strap. The adjustment of the headset. The tangled headphone cord. For the most part, the HTC Vive has been a complete room-scale VR platform. But there’s always been a few quirks that bothered us.

Well it looks like Vive has been listening, improving the few annoyances we’ve had with the headset — finally completing our Vive VR system.

Set to launch on June 6th for the price of $100, the Deluxe Audio Strap doesn’t just add headphones to your Vive headset, but dramatically improves the comfort and experience across the board.

Standard strap vs Deluxe Audio Strap.

When it comes to playing games for extended amounts of time in VR with the Vive—think hours—your experience slowly becomes more and more uncomfortable. Whether it’s the weight of the headset on your face, the elastic head straps bunching, or that damn headphone cord intruding on immersion as you make quick body movements, long VR sessions can be a challenge.

The Vive Deluxe Audio Strap hopes to solve all of these problems.

First off, the rigid frame that replaces the elastic straps fits around your head and can be tightened with a knob on the back of your head. No more side velcro straps—big bonus. But even better, because of the padded frame design, the Deluxe Audio Strap takes weight off the front of your face and spreads it out around your head. Making this way more comfortable.

Then there’s the headphone annoyance. The Deluxe Audio Strap has integrated headphones, removing the need to plug in your own set. I don’t know how many times i’ve extended my arms out to only find myself pulling the audio cord out of the headset. Or all those times you put your friends in a Vive and they take the headset off, only to watch the headphones crash to floor because they forgot they were even wearing them. Well now you can really forget you even have headphones on with these integrated suckers. The audio quality is impressive and if you still want to chat with friends while in VR, just flip up one ear bud.

Aside from the odd name choice, the Deluxe Audio Strap is a must-have for any HTC Vive owner.

Considering how much you might spend on a pair of wireless headphones, the Deluxe Audio Strap starts to make the most sense. And if comfort is your game, you need look no further.
