Get ready for the new Star Wars movie with this 360 experience.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is just around the corner and people, myself included, are freaking out. Disney and Lucasfilm have been working around the clock to keep people satisfied till the release with merchandise, commercial tie-ins and now, virtual reality. Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB has partnered with Verizon to bring fans closer to Rogue One than ever before with a brand new FREE VR experience, Rogue One: Recon — A Star Wars 360 Experience.
The gorgeous 360 video features nearly 2 minutes of intense space combat as you sit in the pilot seat of the notorious Rebel X-Wing fighter. The video starts with you on what looks to be a routine scouting mission, until you’re suddenly faced with an unexpected barrage of Imperial TIE Fighters. The experience features plenty of action and a surprising amount of drama that beautifully sets the tone for the full film. There’s also a cool little cameo by everyone’s favorite planet-destroying space station.
Kristin Rooney, executive director of Partnerships & Social Media at Verizon, spoke about the new VR experience: “The team at Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB developed Rogue One: Recon 360 as a way to showcase what’s possible with 360-degree video and to get fans excited about the upcoming release of the film. You’re able to look around and truly dive into the Star Wars universe.”
