Sony’s Dropping the Price of PlayStation VR

Operation Smile Virtual Reality Playstation VR

Everyone’s making VR more affordable before the holiday season.

On the heels of price drops for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive this past month, Sony is also jumping into the price war game. Sony’s PlayStation VR will be sold bundled with the PlayStation Camera for $399 starting next month across the U.S. and Canada—roughly a $50 price drop.

VR headsets are expected to be a hot item for gifts during the holiday season, so what better way to make that buying decision easier then a more affordable price. Especially since price reductions could help drive more sales after likely holding back purchases last holiday season.

In addition to the PlayStation VR bundle for $399 that essentially gives you the PlayStation VR camera at no extra charge, Sony’s PlayStation VR Worlds bundle (PS VR headset, PS Camera, two PlayStation Move motion controllers and PlayStation VR Worlds) will be available at a new lower price of $449.

Sony originally introduced the PlayStation VR headset with a retail price of $399, but sold the PlayStation Camera that’s necessary to run any VR experiences separately.
