Hold your breath and take the virtual leap in a VR recreation of the films white-knuckle crane sequence.
Continuing his domination of the box office, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is back with yet another big budget action film that’s sure to have investors drowning in profit.
Universal Picture’s Skyscraper tells the story of Will Sawyer, a former FBI agent now living with his family inside The Pearl, an enormous skyscraper known for being the tallest structure in all of Hong Kong. After a terrorist attack converts the complex into a crumbling warzone, Sawyer must survive the towering inferno, save his family, and stop the baddies, all while being framed for the destruction itself. You know, classic Dwayne Johnson troubles.
But if you just can’t wait till July 13th to see Johnson save the day, a lucky few will also have the opportunity to check out Skyscraper The Impossible Leap In VR, a brand new promotional VR experience that ties directly into an actual scene from the blockbuster film.
Available at participating AMC theatres, the brief VR experience places users near the roof of the crumbling Pearl. Once at the top, you’ll have to carefully navigate your way across a rickety metal crane perched miles above the ground while simultaneously ignoring the immense destruction happening all around you. From there it’s just a heart-pounding leap through the window of an adjacent building and your home free. No problem!
Make sure you experience our VR Skyscraper leap off the crane. I tried it multiple times and failed lol. It’s an incredible experience – especially right before you watch SKYSCRAPER. Don’t look down! https://t.co/GXTliqSwQt

According to this tweet from Johnson, the action star actually attempted the leap himself only to come up just short of success. I imagine this will go a little differently for his character in the actual film…
So, if you’re looking for a slightly more chaotic rendition of Richie’s Plank Experience, Skyscraper The Impossible Leap In VR will be available to the public July 4th – July 8th at these select AMC theatres. The experience was developed using a combination of RealD3D and HP technology.
Skyscraper hits theatres July 13th and stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Neve Campbell.
