Rémy Martin Promotes Latest Cognac Release With AR Art Tour

The French cognac producers team with abstract artist Matt. W. Moore for an international augmented marketing campaign.

As AR advertising continues to capture the attentions of various companies looking for more engaging forms of brand awareness, we’re beginning to see the creative possibilities AR technology can bring to conventional marketing.

Rémy Martin, one of the largest French cognac producers in the world, recently unveiled their own unique take on immersive promotional content in the form of an augmented reality art tour through London, New York, Moscow, Shanghai, and other prominent locations.

Created to promote the companies recently released Rémy Martin VSOP Limited Edition, ARt, or Augmented Reality Tour, scatters a variety of abstract digital art by Matt W. Moore throughout the real world for users to explore and enjoy via their smartphone camera. Using his iconic “Vectorfunk” style of colorful graphics, Moore delivers a captivating geometric experience that simultaneously pays tribute to Rémy Martin’s recognizable symbolism, such as the legendary centaur.

“Through augmented reality, let’s create things that have never been seen before,” spoke Moore in a statement. “A big part of my drive as an artist is to reach as many eyes as possible. This collaboration really shows the possibility of celebrating differences and harmonizing our histories.”

“My first goal was to design all of the different existing elements: the grapes, vines, leaves, sunbursts, custom typography for VSOP, and the overall flow of the compositions,” he continued. “Once we established a healthy library of illustrated assets, the next step was to compose them in clever ways for each of the different applications — gift box, bottle label and beyond.”

While most users will find themselves stepping back in order to take in the grand size of these augmented works of art, getting up close and personal with these towering designs also has its own benefits. Hidden throughout Moore’s abstract models are a series of hidden clues, leading users down a mysterious path.

ARt comes on the heels of Rémy Martin’s recent collaboration with Microsoft, which brought the companies history to life via the Hololens headset.

ARt is powered by Apple’s ARKit platform and available free on iOS devices.
