Nickelodeon’s Screens Up TV companion app brings AR challenges to the living room.
It’s a green, gooey substance that makes you go ewwwww. From the early days of Nickelodeon’s “You Can’t Do That on Television” to “Double Dare,” Nickelodeon’s infamous slime has been a major influence on the lives of many kids growing up in the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s, even today.
Tonight, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2018 will be the first show powered by Nickelodeon’s Screens Up app. The brand-new companion experience provides new ways for kids to play and get slimed to their hearts delight. Water, windex and towels are not needed for clean up because the app is packed with hassle-free AR slime!
Nickelodeon’s Screens Up app will feature four surprising AR TV moments throughout the show including the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, flying orange blimps and, of course, tons upon tons of slime. It’s the greatest hits of Nickelodeon packed into one AR app.
Beyond the show, the Screens Up app is chockfull of AR games and stickers. So even after the show has come to an end, users are free to continue slime time, basketball and hanging out with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
There is no surprise that kids snuggle their smartphone and tablets while watching TV. Nickelodeon saw a golden opportunity to make productive use of this growing habit. The result is one of the first TV companion apps to include AR play experiences for children.
Hopefully, this new app will assist Nickelodeon in their ongoing efforts to get children up and active. By providing kids with physical AR challenges based on shows they know and love, you could get viewers off the couch inbetween commercials, or during actual broadcasting. Looking ahead, Nickelodeon plans to explore further AR TV experiences and will continue packing the Screens Up with more AR fun.
