More than 20 controller titles launching on day one.
Unveiled in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung’s mobile Gear VR headset with motion controller is now on sale.
Not the first mobile headset to hit the market with a motion controller, the Gear VR is the most widely owned headset outside Google Cardboard. So if you already own a Gear VR, you can pick up the controller for just $39. The controller is compatible with previous Gear VR headsets since it connects via Bluetooth to a VR-enabled Samsung phones like the Galaxy S7.
The Gear VR controller adds a deeper level of immersion that was honestly lacking from the device. Now you have the power to interact with the virtual environment in a more intuitive way, instead of just tapping the side of your headset with your index finger.
The controller was designed for use with a single hand and has an integrated home, volume, and back buttons. When announced, the new Gear VR with controller was said to already have 70 controller titles already in development. For today’s launch, there are already 20 tiles available at launch.
Whether you’re reaching for the stars in A Night Sky, slaying zombies with futuristic weapons in Drop Dead, or exploring a sinister haunted house by flashlight in AFFECTED: The Manor, the new controller lets you experience immersion in Gear VR in a whole new way.
