Recently Released Half-Life: Alyx Screenshots Tease New Enemies And Environments

Take a look at some of the baddies you’ll be facing in Valve’s upcoming Half-Life VR game.

*UPDATE [1/21/2020]: The following screenshots were first leaked by Valve News Network and not TheJQKTeam as previously reported.*

This March Half-Life: Alyx will make its highly-anticipated debut on VR headsets, marking the first official release of a Half-Life game in 13 years. The first of three upcoming VR titles currently in development by Valve, the company promises the Half-Life: Alyx will set a new standard for modern VR gaming, offering players a visceral immersive experience unlike anything available at the moment.

While information regarding the prequel/sequel hybrid remains scarce, yesterday The Valve News Network dropped a handful of never-before-seen screenshots supposedly showing off a variety of new enemies and locations. While it’s unclear how these assets were obtained, the images featured in the post appear to be legit. Alongside each photo posted is a small caption providing additional context.

One such photo supposedly features the Cremator, an older enemy class featured briefly in the Half-Life 2 beta. Another appears to showcase the gruesome remains of an individual ravaged by a face-hugging headcrab. What really gets my engine revving, however, is the “error” model, a small tease of the modding capabilities promised by Valve. The company has stated that Half-Life: Alyx will launch alongside a series of developer tools that will allow users to create their own maps and game modes.

Half-Life: Alyx arrives this March on the Valve Index, HTC Vive/Vive Pro, Windows Mixed Reality, Oculus Rift/Rift S, and Oculus Quest via Oculus Link.
