Geo Guessing Is Even More Fun In VR On The Meta Quest

VR geo guessing app Somewhere is now available free on Quest headsets.

VR geo guessing app Somewhere allows you to explore thousands of locations and compete against other players for the highest scores. Similar to the popular web-based puzzle game GeoGuessr, Somewhere drops you in a random location somewhere (get it?) around the world and tasks you with determining your specific location based on the image alone.

Unlike GeoGuessr and other competing geo guessing experiences, Somewhere uses VR technology to immerse you in the experience via captivating 360-degree photos. At the end of each round, you’re presented with a leaderboard allowing you to compare your scores against friends and strangers. The closer your guess, the more points you earn.

Somewhere is available for free on Meta Quest and Meta Quest 2 headsets via the App Lab. The game is still a work-in-progress, so expect a few potential hiccups related to comfort and performance. Developer Mr. Cheerio also recently added 20 additional regions to the game, offering even more exotic locations to identify.

Moving forward the developer has expressed interest in implementing special in-app purchases, but the idea is still in its early stages and not yet a priority for the team. Perhaps we’ll be able to purchase new locations as DLC?

Personally, I’d love to see them expand on multiplayer by introducing cooperative and competitive game modes. This is another area the developer appears interested in. For more information on Somewhere visit here.
