Get up-close with Ford’s latest innovations in this 360-degree video app.
For those that couldn’t make it out to France to see the Ford GT win the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in June, Ford has got you covered — in virtual reality.
The new Ford VR app is available for iOS and Android devices, giving you a 360-degree view of the Le Mans racetrack. Once you’ve downloaded the app, you can use either your phone or a Google Cardboard headset to immerse yourself at the race through an eight-minute narrated video while sitting in the passenger seat of the GT, in the Ford Performance garage and on pit row.
This first story centers around the Ford GT at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but even more exciting, the next story will feature Hoonigan Racing’s Ken Block and Ford Focus RS RX — debuting in September. Its been awhile since we’ve seen some high performance rally car racing and can’t wait to see where they’ll take us. Back in November, Subaru gave us a unique look at views from both the course and the driver in action in this 360° video. If you have your push notifications turned on for the Ford VR app, you will get an update when new content goes live.

“We are very excited about this opportunity to provide truly immersive experiences that showcase the best of Ford Motor Company,” says Lisa Schoder, Ford digital marketing manager. “Our virtual reality platform allows us to tell dramatic, impactful stories, to show a surprising side of Ford.”
Ford partnered with Tool of North America to create the app with 360-degree content, with sound design by Q Department and VR Sound powered by Mach1 Sound Technology.
