Tonight’s Sony E3 press conference was jam-packed. Among many new gaming title announcements, Sony revealed a new virtual reality gaming title called RIGS for Project Morpheus, Sony’s VR headset.
RIGS is developed by Gorilla Cambridge, a division of Sony Computer Entertainment, that puts you in the middle of a futuristic 3 versus 3 battle arena. Friends with Dualshock 4 controllers can play alongside you in this multiplayer “sport”.
“Imagine playing a Morpheus game while four of your friends are inside the same virtual world playing alongside of you with DualShock 4 on the couch,” said Andrew House, Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO.
In the latest trailer released after the press conference, you can view a number of players battling it out in what the RIGS is calling a “mechanized combat league”.
Earlier today Sony filed a trademark in Europe for the term “Rigs”. Now we know why.
We will check RIGS out at E3 and provide additional updates.
