“…whoever’s behind the wheel is a demon.” – Initial D, Keisuke Takashi
Keiichi “Drift King” Tsuchiya, famous for popularizing drifting into motorsports and inspiring “Initial D” and “The Fast and the Furious” franchises, is now entering virtual reality with the most unexpected pair of VR enthusiasts. Leading the project is VR studio, VR INNOVATOR, headed by CEO Rika Muranaka, composer of the METAL GEAR SOLID series, and Founder Damien “E/Love” Matthias, LL Cool J’s producer.
The game titled “Fearless D” will feature an immersive drift racing experience through city streets and possibly treacherous mountain roads in virtual reality. Details about “Fearless D” has still yet to be revealed such as platform support or release dates, but one thing you can put your money on is that the soundtrack will be crazy with Grammy award winning composers behind the helm.
VR Innovator, located in Los Angeles, has also recently received funding from COLOPL VR Fund to realize this project. In addition to the Fearless D, VR Innovator is working with UCLA Medical to develop VR/AR experiences for patient care and separately developing a platform to allow gamers to interact with retail business within their VR experiences.
