Blade & Sorcery Doubles Down On The Sorcery In Massive New Update

“The Sorcery Update” arrives on PC VR headsets June 4th.

Already one of the most popular VR titles available on PC VR headsets at the moment, this week it was revealed that medieval fantasy sword-fighting simulator Blade & Sorcery is receiving a major new update that promises to revamp the early access experience with new magic, armor, and weapons, along with a new map and several visual upgrades.

In the “Blade and Sorcery | Official Update 8 Trailer” posted to YouTube yesterday, developer WarpFrog teases just some of the fun on it way as part of “The Sorcery Update.” Throughout the well-choreographed announcement, we see a visually-improved Blade & Sorcery experience as well as a at least two new spells: fire casting and gravity manipulation.

During the trailer you can see the player manipulating environments as well as enemies with some sort of violet aura. We also see some basic fire bending as well as a new-and-improved lightning spell. These spells can also be attributed to weapons as a sort of magical enhancement, allowing the player to maximize their damage with devastating attacks. Players can try out these new spells in the Citadel, a brand new included as part of the update.

WarpFrog also teases the introduction of armor, a first for Blade & Sorcery. This would require even more strategy from players as they focus on striking unprotected weak spots as opposed to just hacking away at enemies.

While Blade & Sorcery has become widely known for its realistic combat, the “Sorcery” aspect of the experience has gone widely overlooked. Thankfully, the VR modding community has been having a field day with the popular sword-fighting simulator, introducing some truly incredible weapons, enemies, environments, and magic the existing experience. Hell, you can battle Stormtroopers with custom lightsabers across an Imperial star destroyer.

Blade & Sorcery “The Sorcery Update” is scheduled to arrive June 4th on SteamVR and Oculus.
