Tomb Raider Launches Free VR Movie Tie-In Experience

Rappel, climb, and zip-line as Lara Croft.

Tomb Raider is heading to theaters March 16th, but not before taking us on a trip underground, letting us virtually step into the boots of Lara Croft herself. As part of the launch for this year’s Tomb Raider film series reboot, Warner Bros has launched an interactive VR tie-in movie experience that you can download for free on Samsung Gear VR.

Tomb Raider VR: Lara’s Escape is a mobile VR experience that will have you escaping capture from Trinity soldiers down an ancient tomb, armed with only your bow and climbing axe. You can flick on Lara’s flashlight to explore crumbling caverns filled with traps or zip-line across dangerous caverns. The interactive experience makes use of either the Gear VR Touchpad or wireless controller.

You can watch the short trailer below, which mixes in some VR footage with clips from the Tomb Raider film.

While we’ve seen other movie tie-in VR experiences before like Justice League, Blade Runner, Jumanji and IT, this Tomb Raider VR experience is dropping straight to the Oculus store, so we can all download it from the comfort of our home.

Tomb Raider, starring Academy-Award winner Alicia Vikander (Jason Bourne, The Danish Girl), is coming to theaters March 16, 2018.
